This double-bowl hammered kitchen copper sink has two standard 3.75" diameter holes, one per bowl. The upper border is 2.5" wide on the front, left and right sides, 2" in the middle and 4" in the back, where the fountain is mounted. Both bowls are the same size and 15.5" long by 14" wide by 9" deep. Made by the copper-smith Jose Luis Garcia from Santa Clara del Cobre, Mexico, this hammered kitchen copper sink is a beautiful piece of art.
From a copper sheet the wise artisan hands transform it into this unique piece. The hammer footprint is very visible, giving it its own character. The reddish/oxidated texture is characteristic of natural copper when it is cooled down from red-hot temperature using cold water, that specific characteristic is what makes it so beautiful.
This copper sink was mostly raised with the artist hammer.
The techniques used by Santa Clara del Cobre craftsmen is the same one used for several centuries, where no sophisticated tools are used, just the furnace to heat the copper and a hammer to give it the shape. The finish is in a dark brownish color. Along your home decoration, this piece it will add a unique touch to your kitchen making it a very special point of attraction.
This copper sink will not rust or become greenish because the patina will protect it from humidity and oxidation, just keep it as dry as you can to preserve it longer with the current color textures. The patina can be damaged faster if any abrasive substances stay for long periods of time on the sink surface, because of this, washing it after usage is recommended; besides that, no more maintenance is required. The copper sheet is 14 gauge (0.064" thickness).
