From a copper sheet (gauge 14, 0.066", 1.63mm thickness) the wise artisan hands transform it into this unique piece. This bathroom copper tub has a standard 2" diameter drainage hole in the bottom-center of the tub. The internal dimensions are: Length 56.75", width 29" and depth is 20". It has a border all the way around it 3.25" wide.
The hammer footprint is very visible, giving it its own character. The reddish/oxidated texture is characteristic of natural copper when it is cooled down from red-hot temperature using cold water, that specific characteristic is what makes it so beautiful. The border around the tub is 2.75" wide. The riveting at the tub bottom is 6" tall.
This copper tub was mostly raised with the artist hammer. The techniques used by Santa Clara del Cobre craftsmen is the same one used for several centuries, where no sophisticated tools are used, just the furnace to heat the copper and a hammer to give it the shape.
