This is a double switch Talavera plate in a vivid-colors design. Mexican Talavera ceramic is the result of a mixture of cultures over time. Initially, the Spaniards were influenced by Arabic pottery. They brought it with them to Mexico. The mixture of these cultures resulted in this beautiful ceramic art. The ceramic is fired at high temperatures to give it its hardness. Most of the Talavera ceramic items are first hand-painted with a white coat.
